INTERNATIONAL PIPELINE CONFERENCE AND EXPO
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and PRCI announced their collaboration to host the International Pipeline Conferences (IPC) in 2024, 2026, and 2028. IPC is a premier biennial event for global pipeline industry experts to share knowledge on topics like design, integrity, corrosion, energy transition, and more. This partnership aims to promote innovation, safety, and sustainability in the pipeline industry, bringing together global experts to drive progress and knowledge sharing
The 15th International Pipeline Conference and Expo (IPCE 2024), held from September 23-27 at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park, was a resounding success, showcasing the latest innovations in energy pipelines. The conference theme, "Innovations in Energy Pipelines: Fueling the Future," set the stage for engaging discussions and groundbreaking presentations. PRCI played a significant role in this global gathering, not only as a co-host but also through active participation in various key sessions:
• PRCI's research was prominently featured with 14 presentations of papers, underlining the organization's pivotal role in advancing pipeline safety and efficiency. The conference also benefitted from PRCI member delegates who reviewed abstracts in their respective areas of expertise.
• Gary Choquette acted as the session chair for emerging fuels and GHG reductions. He also presented a paper on "Numerical Methods to Reduce Measurement Uncertainty and Lower CPM Leak Thresholds," highlighting PRCI's commitment to cutting-edge research.
• Cliff Johnson participated in the IPC Advisory Committee, acted as a panelist in the International Pipeline Conference and Exhibition VIP Roundtable, and moderated the discussion on International Best Practices in Incorporating Innovation into Regulation.
• Shahani Kariyawasam, a member of the Technical Planning Committee, contributed as a panelist for both International Best Practices in Incorporating Innovation into Regulation and Leading in Technical Space.
In addition to its collaborative hosting duties, PRCI sponsored a lunch, providing a valuable networking opportunity for attendees. The organization also participated in the poster session, showcasing a new initiative, PRCI OpenAccess, which offers unprecedented opportunities to the entire pipeline industry.
